.... Connecting & Creating relationships with Nature, country & community.

Kimberley Community - Background & Photos

Introduction

10 years ago Aboriginal elder David Mowaljarlai initiated a line of energy from Sydney to the Kimberley. He said by energising this line it would heal the whole country. In September 1997 I attended Bush University with Mowaljarlai, and met elders of the Kimberley, and understood more clearly what was meant by this. He died a few months later, leaving strong impressions with many people of the value of supporting the people, nature and spirit of the Kimberley for benefits to all Australians, and the increasingly interested global community.

The Connecting Country Journeys are delivering people to work with people of the Kimberley to rebuild community, plus building relationships & energy of communities enroute - energising the line.

The purpose of the journey is to connect communities, raise awareness and share a grand vision of communities working with Nature and each other, for a future they want to live, and create

Specific objectives of the project include .....

* Time in the Kimberley including community work with Aboriginal people building basic shelters and facilities for future living and nature based learning centres.

* Learning from and contributing to communities (Uluru, Kimberley & others).

Across Australia - Connecting Country Safari & Eden Sanctuary Project

Some Journey Highlights

Our intention of these journeys is to embrace creation, by connecting with the land, nature & people.

Your intention for the journey affects your outcome and your experience with the people we meet. The journey starts with a nature attunement, and honours natural principles.

Broken Hill - Introduction to country and community with Aunty Beryl Carmichael.

Aunty Beryl leads introductions to culture days and camps in her traditional country. She teaches survival skills, and will open us up to new ways of relating to the land in traditional ways. A day will be spent with Beryl in the bush, around Menindee Lakes and the area that is her home.

Aunty Beryl also travels her community as a cultural officer with the regional division of the education department. We have been invited to meet her community and share our stories.

Scotia Sanctuary - near Broken Hill

Introduction to the sanctuary and overnight stay here to enable dawn and/or dusk walks to see some of

the worlds rarest animals. Half the mammal species lost to the world over the last 200 years have been in Australia ..... Australia's  record is appalling. Scotia Sanctuary will restore 1/4 of the worlds endangered mammals by bringing them back to their native habitats. Species include Bridled Nailtail Wallabies, (extremely rare) Beetongs, Bilbys & Mallee Fowl.

Uluru - (or Ayers Rock - the preferred name by some traditional caretakers)

This area is one of Earth's most sacred places ..... the power of the rock, the vastness and emptiness of the area at sunset, sunrise and under the Milky Way will be experienced. An understanding of the spiritual

power and significance of the area will be introduced by traditional Aboriginal community caretakers, and may include dance (inma), song and storytelling.

The Rock, and Yulara resort is one of the most trafficked tourist destinations in Australia with 1,000's

arriving weekly. Average stay is approximately 1.5 days by tourists from all over the World. The traditional caretakers say the spirits of the rock are overwhelmed, and the energy needs to be lifted with positive energy of caring and respect given back ( ie more than leaving footprints and taking photos).

Our visit will connect with the magic & wisdom of the Anangu and Pitjantjatjara people, and aims to support the uplifting of the spirit of community, and a greater understanding of our relationship with the land.
